Complete as many Tejas Trails races as you can during the 2026 calendar year to earn points in the Tejas Garmin Challenge and compete for a Garmin watch, free race entries, and Tejas Trails prizes.

Contest Details

The Tejas Garmin Challenge is scored using a simple points system based on race distance. Points are earned for every Tejas Trails race completed during the 2026 calendar year. The runner with the highest total point score at the end of the season wins.

You must obtain an official finish at each event for it to count (finish before cut-off, etc.).

How Points Are Earned

Points are awarded per race completed based on race length:

  • Under 5 miles — 1 point

  • 5 to 10 miles — 2 points

  • 10 to 40 miles — 3 points

  • 40+ miles — 4 points

This system rewards consistency across the year while still recognizing longer distances.

How Rankings Are Determined

Runners are ranked by total points earned.

If there is a tie, it will be broken in the following order:
• Most qualifying races completed
• Most distance category diversity
• Highest single race point value achieved
• Earliest date reaching the final tied point total

Awards

1st place will win a Garmin watch and two free Tejas Trails race entries.

2nd place will win two free Tejas Trails race entry.

3rd place will win one free Tejas Trails race entries.

Free race entries excludes Bandera, Rocky Raccoon 100, Rocky 50, and River’s Edge.

Winners will be announced after the final qualifying race of the year.
