Trips: HCSNA Trail Work and Course Preview Running Trip
When: Sep 20 - 22, 2024 COME FOR SOME OR ALL. (Update for 2024, we will only do trail work on Saturday and Sunday. Friday evening will be free camping and time on the trails, and to make a plan for Saturday morning start).
Where: Hill Country State Natural Area (HCSNA) 10600 Bandera Creek Rd, Bandera, TX 78003, Chapas Barn (group campsite)
What: This is our big trip of the year! We need a lot of people to sign up for this one. Please spread the word!

GENERAL INFO:

  • We will be working on some much needed, more sustainable trails that will help the park be able to keep their trails open more when precipitation falls. This is a great thing for the park, and will create a better situation for day use, along with our annual races out there!

  • We will be enjoying a lot of relaxing and hanging out with old friends and new friends to be made between running and trail work sessions.

  • In addition to trail work, we will also be doing a Cactus Rose and Hoka Bandera course preview running weekend + Q&A with the Race Director.

  • We will be highlighting and running the best parts of the race course, and offering Q&A sessions with the Race Director.

  • If you can’t make it for all the planned days, you can come and go for any part of the weekend. No running required if you just want to come work on trails and relax or hike.

  • The park needs us. Please bring your friends.

LOGISTICS DETAILS:

  • We will provide snacks, drinks, water, basic breakfast and lunch (snack bars, gels, Tailwind, packaged muffins, yogurts, peanut butter, jelly, lunchmeat, cheese, bread, bagels, veggies, fruit, chips, paper and plasticware, etc.

  • $0 (a.k.a. free) if you bring your own suppers.

  • $12-15 per evening if we provide suppers for you.

    • We will be buying hot meals from the town of Bandera, to support the local eateries (usually Mexican food one evening, and good pizza the other).

    • Please keep in mind, we will not be able to provide for most dietary restrictions, as we will be buying food from local restaurants in bulk.

  • Camping, Day Use Fees, snacks, and drinks will be free.

    • We will be staying at the Chapas camping area.

    • Some RV sites with electric are available right there, upon request. Please email us to call dibs on one. First come, first serve.

    • All other camping and rv’ing is primitive. Plan accordingly. There will be a primitive bathroom, some additional portable toilets, and some potable water from a spigot, but that’s about it.

    • Of course, you can get a hotel room, find a spot at a nearby dude ranch, a cottage on the river in Bandera or surrounding towns and cities, if you don’t like roughing it. If you do, we encourage you to find somewhere in Bandera to support the local town though!
