Registration & Cost
No tricks or gimmicks. Registration was free for the first 200, and only $25 for the next 200 (per race registration). We want you to use your money to support the amazing local Leakey, Concan, Uvalde, and nearby businesses, restaurants, and lodging providers.
Your race registration covers your park entry to Garner State Park, and all access fees for all other venues we are using. We are paying those fees for you. Spectators will need to pay for their own entry into Garner State Park (unless you have the TPWD annual pass). And H.W. Lewis Ranch will require a parking fee / land use fee for any spectators that go out there to see their rider come through. All parking around downtown Leakey will be free. Bushong Mountain Park parking is the same as downtown Leakey parking (it’s right on the edge of the downtown square).
Your race fees do NOT cover any meals. We will provide all the snacks you want at aid stations. And we’ll have finish line drinks for racers to enjoy. But you will need to plan on paying for any meals or extra drinks. See the Food & Lodging details further down below on this page.

Gravel Bike Race Details
(2026 Zero Edition Details Shown)
Course Description
The 60 mile and 33 mile Gravel Bike Race course is a mix of paved roads, chip seal roads, caliche jeep roads, ranch roads (4 track), and dirt trail. It is primarily non-technical, but there are several dry and wet creek crossings that have baseball sized rocks, as well as some rocky jeep road sections. Some walk those crossings if they feel more comfortable, but it is all 100% rideable. Your choice along the way though.
We will start and finish downtown. Once we are out of town, you’ll enjoy beautiful roads between various ranches. These ranches have some amazing scenery waiting for you, as well as some punchy hills.
The shorter course will have a few places where you will shortcut off the full lap. We will have signage at each place, and volunteers at most of them. It is up to you to follow the race route correctly. Thank you to the Real County Sheriff dept. for your safety escort help!
Much of the roadways along this race route will be open to the public, and you’ll be out in the country. Please watch out for vehicles at all time. Ultimately your safety is up to you, just like any other time you’re on your bike.
We will add the race route gpx file soon, and want everyone to have it on your device during your race if possible.
Tires
Generally people use 45mm gravel tires on the ride, but if you are aggressive, you may want to push it and use smaller (35mm tires) and just run or walk the short rocky sections that pop up here and there.
Cutoffs
We are allowing racers to be on the full course for 8 hours. That means the slowest possible pace is 7.5 mph. We will expect the same slowest pace allowed for the shorter course as well. If you decide you want to shortcut the race course, you can safely do that at multiple points along the way. Just make sure to let the finish line staff know you are not officially in the results and we’ll count you as a DNF.
Mountain Bikes Allowed
If you don’t have a gravel bike but want to race, c’mon! Mountain bikes are welcome. You’ll float through the few more technical spots, but you will be working harder on the otherwise faster road sections.
Trail Run Race Details
(2026 Zero Edition Details Shown)
Course Description
The Friday Night trail running races will start and finish at the Rustic 83 on Main Street in downtown Leakey. Same place as Packet Pickup and the Friday night party!
The loop is a little over 10 miles long. The 50K will enjoy 3 laps of that course, each time coming through the party in downtown Leakey!
The Saturday Afternoon daytime trail races will all start and finish at Garner State Park (just a few minutes drive from downtown Leakey).
Cutoffs & Aid Stations
We have very generous cutoffs for all races. The slowest pace allowed for the night trail 50km is 19:21 per mile. And 22:44 for the daytime run. The shorter distances have a massive amount of time to get the course done.
We will have a ton of aid station support out there for you. We will add an aid station chart asap that will show you the exact details. But in short, you will never go more than 3-4 miles between aid stations.
Nighttime Running & Required Gear
The night race will be in some beautiful remote skies. Which means it will be dark out there! We require a headlamp or handheld to start the race; and we very strongly recommend a backup light and backup battery/batteries. It is also a good idea to have that backup light and batteries on you out on the course.
We also require you to carry a water bottle and/or soft flask, as we do not provide cups at our aid stations; and it’s not cool to drink straight from the dispenser jugs.
Even though we provide full on aid station support, we strongly recommend carrying some sort of hydration carrying device on you (e.g. a vest, pack, waistband, or otherwise).
Float Trip Details
(2026 Zero Edition Details Shown)
General Info
We are excited to hook up with Happy Hollow Frio River Outfitters and offer two different float trip times on Saturday. No pre-registration is needed, and Tejas Trails isn’t taking any fees. Everyone will simply settle up with Happy Hollow once we get to that part of the weekend. We will send more specific details in the pre-race email as well. Happy Hollow is located in Concan, just a few miles down the highway from downtown Leakey. You can check out all the details on their site. You can expect around $20-25 (including parking, shuttle, and tube rental). You can use your own SUP or kayak if you want to. They might charge a little extra for transportation.
Pickup and Drop off
We will update this info as soon as it’s known, but if we have enough people wanting to do each timeframe, they will come pick everyone up from downtown Leakey. If not, we will just use their regular services and everyone will need to get to and from their regular location (which isn’t a big deal as it’s just down the road from downtown Leakey in Concan).
Length
The float trip will take between 45 minutes and an hour and a half, depending on the river flow. We have chosen the two optional times (see full schedule for those times) so everyone will have time to get to the Garner State Park in plenty of time, get meals, recover, and be ready for your race coming up. And conversely, for those finishing up the Gravel Bike Race, you will have time to get to the latter one.

Extra Race Details
Course Markings
We will have fully marked courses so you can enjoy the ride, run, and paddling without stress. For the gravel bike race, we will have larger visuals everywhere you exit and re-enter roadways. And we will provide downloadable tracks for the gravel bike race. For the Stand Up Paddleboard Race, we will make the put in and exit are very obvious. We will also have volunteers greeting you out of the water to the finish line on shore. For all trail courses, we will have directional arrows anytime there is a choice to be made, and will block off the wrong ways with barricade tape and wrong way signs. We also clip bright orange confidence markers in the sections between intersections to help you feel good that you are still on course.
Cupless Racing
After years of cleaning up discarded cups at aid stations, and wasting a lot of trees, we implemented cupless racing. This means that for any hydration at an aid station you will need to bring your own cup, flask bottle, or bladder. We will also DQ for littering, which isn’t limited to cups. Anything that isn’t natural to the area is considered littering (which includes fruit peels, for example). If you or your spectators are seen littering, you may be disqualified and pulled from the race.
Volunteering
Volunteers are the heart of all of our races. And with a full weekend of racing, there are lots of opportunities to pitch in. Even if you are racing, you can help out in some of the other races. If you’re interested in volunteering, please let us know at Volunteer.
Timing
We will not be timing this year’s “zero-edition” races. However, we will honor the top 3 finishers per distance at the award ceremony on Saturday night.
Aid Stations
The gravel bike race will have at least two aid stations on course with hydration and grab n’ go snacks. The mountain bike race will have an aid station at the next lap/finish line. All other trail races will all have aid stations on course as well as the start/finish/next lap line. We will update course maps and add an aid station chart closer to the event.
Just Coming for the Spectating
A major part of this weekend is the community around the race, and spectators are a key ingredient. If you or your loved ones aren’t racing, we want you there. Tell everyone in your family and friends groups to come join the fun. Bring the kids, grandma and grandpa and the family dog.
Zero Edition Swag & Stuff
For 2026, since we are offering these races for free, we will not offer timed races, finisher medals, or race shirts like we usually do (and will do for 2027).
However, you can add on a shirt when you register. Shirt image will be updated here soon!
