DROP BAGS

This page has information specific to each event about drop bags. Most of the information is useful for all our events. But scroll down to find info specific to each event. If you do not see any info specific to the event you are wondering about, that means we do not offer Drop Bag Services for that event.

For all events, you are always allowed a Drop Bag / whatever you want at the start/finish area. Look for the Drop Bag feather flag as to where to drop it. If there is no signage, feel free to place it wherever you like. Please note, we do not offer security watch over your belongings, and therefore do not guarantee the safety of your items.

Notes applicable to all Tejas Trails events:

  Bag Details:

  • Drop bags going out to aid stations must be in bags, not plastic totes.

  • Max 5 gallon size.

  • Bags must be labeled. Name, Bib#, & Aid Station Name.

    • You will get your Bib # at Packet Pickup. We will supply duct tape and sharpies at the Drop Bag Dropoff Location. But feel free to bring your own marking supplies.

  • No trunks, ice chests, Styrofoam, Tupperware, or cardboard boxes, except for the Start/Finish/Turnaround Drop Bag Area.

  • Only ONE bag per person.

   Delivery Details:

  • See specific info for your event below.

  • In general, if we provide a Drop Bag service for a specific aid station, you need to have your Drop Bag in the designated area the night before the race.

  • If we allow it for a race, and you are dropping bags at aid stations yourself, see the specifics on each event page.

   Return Details:

  • We return all bags as we do a rolling teardown. However, we do not guarantee any drop bag will be returned until the official race ends as we never know what will happen logistically with the final very fatigued runners and volunteers.

    • So, if you are fast, your drop bag will not come back for quite a while after you are finished. Please plan accordingly.

  • If you must have your bags before then, simply do not send a bag out to distant aid stations. Or know that your crew can get it for you.

  • We do not mail drop bags to anyone. Do not ask.

   Other Details:

  • You can do what you want, but we recommend you bring your Drop Bags for the Start/Finish/Turnaround area to the start line on race morning. Critters are likely to mess with them during the night before the race, as it will be quiet around there that night. Plus, we do not monitor the drop bag area until the race begins.

  • For the Start/Finish/Next Lap drop bags, there will be a drop bag area designated with signage. You still must label these bags as well.

  • For Aid Stations out on the course that we deliver to, drop bags will be lined up in Bib Number order after the race starts. They will not remain where you put them.

  • All abandoned drop bags will be disposed of very quickly after the event is over.

  • Make certain all your bags are weatherproof. Your bags will not be under completely protective coverings.

  • Secure all your items in your bag. Do not lay a jacket or shoes on your bag and expect them to stay with your bag. This includes the return trip back to you.

Specific Race Details

HOKA Bandera Endurance Trail Race - 100km

Delivery Details (Nachos & Chapas Only):

  • No drop bags are delivered for 50km or 25km.

  • For those unable to drop their own drop bags, we will supply Drop Bag Service for Nachos & Chapas Aid Stations.

  • Bring bags to the Lodge by 7:00 am Saturday morning at the latest, regardless of your start window time (you or your crew can drop them off anytime beforehand on Friday or early Saturday). You can leave them with us Friday evening as well. Look for a large feather flag labeled “Drop Bags”. They will go to the front yard of the house either on the ground or into the back of a truck, near the edge of the Race Hub.

  • Be sure you bring duct tape and markers to label your bag. It must have the following: Aid Station Name & Bib Number

    • You will receive your Bib Number when you check in at Packet Pickup.

  • Be sure everything is secured inside something that seals up, as we will be hauling a whole lot of bags in the back of pickup trucks. Also, make sure it’s critter proof and rain proof. It will not be under cover out at the aid stations.

   Return Details:

  • We will bring the drop bags back to the Lodge next to the front yard of the house on the ground by 9:00 am Sunday.

  • You may pick up your own bags on your way out if you wish to get them early, and we always appreciate it when you do.

  • All drop bags will get disposed of or cleaned and donated as soon as we finish cleaning up. Which is usually late Sunday night. So, if you come back on Monday and your drop bag is nowhere to be found, thank you for your donation to a charitable cause of our choosing around Austin, TX.

   Other Details:

  • Lodge (Start/Finish): You may place your drop bag for the Lodge behind the open face pole barn. Anywhere in that field. They cannot go inside the barn, like in previous years. That backfield is now for Crews and Drop Bags only. There will be a path marked for Crews to go back into that space, but only one way in and one way out. We will not be retrieving bags for runners at the Lodge A.S., like in previous years. Note where you place your Lodge Drop Bag as you or your crew will have to remember where it is and get it for yourself.

  • You may drop your drop bags off if you wish, just know that the aid station volunteers may move a drop bag they see out on the course trying to help. If they do, they will simply insert into numerical order in the drop bag area at their aid station.

Rocky Raccoon 100, by USWE Trail race

Delivery Details:

  • You will need separate drop bags for Dam Nation and Gate aid stations (1 for each). This will help eliminate any confusion when exiting each aid station and also help volunteers assisting runners (just think of all the extra goodies you can pack now).

  • Now that Dam Nation and Gate Aid Stations are side-by-side, and a short stroll from the Coloneh Parking Lot Trailhead, you can easily go out on Friday and drop your own drop bags. There will be a place in the middle of the two Aid Station tents set up for you to do this.

  • If you cannot find time to deliver your own Drop Bags, you may bring Dam Nation and Gate Drop Bags to the Raven Lodge during packet pickup on Friday, and we will drop them off for you.

  • They will be taken to Dam Nation and Gate on Friday night at 6 pm. This is your only chance to get a bag to Dam Nation and Gate if you need it delivered. No Exceptions.

  • We do not offer Drop Bag service to Nature Center. You drive right past it in route to the Race Hub, so you may drop your supplies off there without any trouble.

    • Please get your Drop Bags in position on Friday anytime as it will be congested over there Saturday morning.

   Return Details:

  • We will bring the Dam Nation and Gate drop bags back to the Lodge Sunday by 2:00 pm.

  • We cannot bring back any drop bags early. If you must have it before then, then do not send a bag out to Dam Nation. You or your crew can get it (ON FOOT OR BIKE ONLY) for you anytime throughout the event.

   Other Details:

  • Bring your Raven (Start/Finish/Next Lap) bags to the start line area on the race morning or the night before.

  • There are a ton of trees and a huge amount of space to choose from at the Race Hub. Please pick any spot you like near / along the edge of the Chute. Please place your bag 6 feet from everyone else’s. Keep in mind, we do not touch (or monitor) anything in that area. Your crew is allowed to set up anywhere around there as well.

Rocky 50, by USWE Trail Race - 50 mile & 50km

Delivery Details

  • We will only take drop bags to Dam Nation and Gate for the 50 milers. Bring Dam Nation and/or Gate Drop Bags to the Raven Lodge during packet pickup on Friday if you want us to deliver them. We prefer everyone to drop their own bags and supplies at each aid station on their own or via their crew, if possible.

  • Drop Bags will be taken on Friday night at 7:00 pm. This is your only chance to get a bag to Dam Nation or Gate via our services. No Exceptions.

  • We have changed the race course so you can use one bag for both Dam Nation and Gate Aid Stations. We will have a large space between the two aid station tents to hold all the drop bags and keep them spread out. Just be careful if you go to retrieve your bag that you continue the correct part of the loop once you are done with it.

  • You are welcome to place your own drop bags at the other aid stations as well.

  • You may drop your bags off anytime on Friday, all the way until late into the night. Be mindful of sleeping campers if you do drive around later at night. We ask you not place Drop Bags on Saturday morning.

Return Details

  • Drop bags will be returned to the Lodge Saturday evening after Gate and Dam Nation Aid Stations (7:48 pm) close down. If you must have it before then, then don’t send a bag out via our services. You or your crew can get it anytime throughout the event.

Other Details

  • Bring your Raven (Start/Finish/Next Lap) bags to the start line on race morning or the night before.

    • We designed the new layout so you can have plenty of room to choose where you place your drop bag at the Start/Finish/Next Lap area (Raven A.S.). You’re free to place your items anywhere along the start chute within 1/4 mile of the Start Line. Please spread out.

      • No limits on sizes at Raven A.S.

      • The park will not let you pitch an enclosed camping tent here though.

      • We will not be providing Drop Bag service at Raven A.S. But you still must label these bags as well. Please note, we will not be watching anything in that area.

Tinajas Trail race - 52.4 Mile

  • We do not provide drop bag service for this event.

  • You can place your drop bags at any fully staffed aid station around the course. If you do this, after your race please go get them. You will pass by the aid stations on your way to the main Race Hub, and will be waiting for you on your way out post-race.

  • For drop bags around the start/finish/next lap area, you may simply place them anywhere you like as long as they don’t impede the race course or aid station. It’s a nice area to work with, leaving plenty of room for everyone’s things to not be on top of each other.

J&J Race and Trail Running Reunion - 50 Miles

You can place your drop bags anywhere around the Pavilion or the surrounding lawns.

We do not provide drop bag service for this event since it’s a lollipop style course design. You will be able to get to your stuff very often with this layout.

  • We do not provide drop bag service for this race.

  • As for your drop bag placement around the start/finish area, we keep this event loose. You can place your drop bag anywhere around the race chute or the Saloon.
